Programme:

1. Scientific meeting (one half day) at Royal Holloway, University of London

Theme: Quality Assurance – when the inspector calls

The meeting will focus on the requirement from the Research Councils, DEFRA and other funders for quality assurance procedures to be in place. What does this actually mean for users, managers and engineers involved with controlled environment facilities? What does the future hold? What tools are available to assist us in Quality Assurance? Who has “been there, done that”? Is QA just a UK problem? The answers to these questions will be addressed at this meeting with opportunities to share best practice as well as practical solutions.

Invited speakers will review:

  • The Inspector’s perspective (D. Glenister, SGS)

  • The CE manager’s perspective (J. Franklin, Rothamsted Research).

  • The CE manufacturer’s perspective (G. Taylor, WEISS-Gallenkamp).

  • The QA standard setter’s perspective (M. Long, BSI).

  • The CE auditor’s perspective (L. Benjamin, Rothamsted Research).

2. Business meeting (evening) at Royal Holloway, University of London

3. Visit to some controlled environment facilities at Silwood Park, Ascot (one half day)
