Programme:

1. Scientific meeting (two and a half days), Theme: “Controlled Environments – the Power to Manipulate”;

Suggested sessions:

  • Showcasing technology: Australasia/Pacific Rim

  • What controlled environments can/can’t do technically

  • Advances in plant science from the space program

  • Science showcasing manipulating environments and plant processes

  • Manipulating genes in controlled environments

  • Lighting technologies (suggested by NCR-101)

  • Talks on selected posters

  • Open Forum: Is there still power in controlled environments?

2. Business meeting(s) (evening);

3. Tour of QBP (including Controlled Environment Facility & roof top glasshouse) (three hours).

Post-conference Tours:

1. Queenland for Sunshine Coast and hinterland; Tropical Fruit Research Station and rainforest walk (2.5 days, Estimated A$ 300 including breakfast but not other meals);

2. Adelaide for SARDI Plant Research Centre (Do web search for “Plant_Research_Centre”) and Barossa Valley wineries (2 days, airfares Brisbane- Adelaide return estimated A$ 300, 2 nights accommodation, transfers, wine tour and tasting estimated A$ 400 per person including all meals)

Registration:

Estimated A$ 400 includes all meals (except breakfast) and transfers to conference from hotels

Accommodation:

Estimated A$ 125 to $ 150 per room per night, including transfer to and from airport and generally including breakfast

Internal discount airfares:

Adelaide to Sydney: Estimated A$ 200

Adelaide to Canberra: Estimated A$ 250 and Canberra to Sydney A$ 200

Current exchange rate:

A$ 2.74 Australian dollars = £ 1 pound sterling
